MATCH FISHING

 

  1. MATCH REGULATIONS

    1. All matches shall be arranged through the Match Secretary. New opposing Clubs shall be subject to approval by the Committee.

    2. Attendance at all matches must be booked online with the Match Secretary between Sunday and Wednesday prior to the match.

    3. Members of visiting clubs are subject to Membership Rules and the Match Secretary will be responsible for ensuring such visitors are aware of and adhere to the rules.

    4. Matches shall be fished on pre-determined beats as shown in the Match Programme. On the day of a match, the beat or beats listed shall be reserved for Match fishing. The Match Secretary may change beats on the day of a Match, according to prevailing conditions, but no existing anglers on the revised beat or beats shall be disturbed.

  2. CLUB MATCH FISHING WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING IN ADDITION TO ALL OTHER CLUB RULES & REGS

    1. All matches shall be fished all-in -except for pike, trout & salmon.

    2. All matches shall be fished with one rod and hook only at any one time. Live/dead baiting and spinning are not allowed.

    3. Wading is permitted in the margins only or is at the Match Secretary's discretion.

    4. All fish must be landed by the competitor unaided from within 1 metre of the peg being fished.

    5. Competing angler's catches will be weighed at their pegs.

    6. Only live fish shall be weighed in.

    7. Roving matches shall be subject to the following additional regulations:

      • All fishing must be from within 1 metre of a permanent peg.

      • No fish shall be carried when changing swim. Fish already caught must be returned to the water before moving.

      • A peg is deemed to have been vacated when an angler leaves that peg with rod and tackle.

    8. Points will be awarded to the first placed angler, descending to 1 point to the tenth placed angler. An angler's best 12 home match scores will count towards the Match Champion trophies. All away match scores will count towards the Peter Lewis Trophy.

    9. Parking for all matches will be advised by the Match Secretary.

MATCHES

  • Godalming – Wood Lake Busbridge meet at Marsh Farm to collect nets and draw. Wood lake Lake holds Bream and Tench, matches normally expect 40lb to 50lb to be in the money!

  • St Pats matches - Meet in the Club Car Park at the Top of Loddon Drive, just get there 10 to 15 minutes before the draw

  • Thames matches – Meet at the copse car park next to the Thames, just get there 10 to 15 minutes before the draw

  • River Kennet matches – Meet in the car park next to the cattery at least ½ hour before draw to enable crossing of the railway line.

  • River Loddon Club Match Sandford Meet at the Club Car Park Sandford.

  • River Loddon Yotac/21 Club meet at slip road opposite Wee Waif Bath Road Charvil.

BOOKING IN ON MATCHES

Away matches, anglers must book in for away matches due to the possible shortage of pegs. Please contact John Green or Colin Rumney by Wednesday before match to ensure you have a peg to fish! Please book in on home matches, especially if we have a visit from another club. River conditions change frequently we may have to reduce peg numbers or at worst cancel the match!

POINT COMPETITION POINTS

Competition, only matches indicated on the above table count towards the points competition, 10 for a win, 9 for second and so on. Two lowest scores can be dropped, there is a total of 11 matches where points can be won, maximum points total is 90 points.

OPTIONAL PEG

There is an optional pool of £5 per match which dependant on numbers fishing pays out to First, Second and Third. At every Points competition match £5 of the pool money is taken from the pool and goes to the Golden Peg pool of money. If we are hosting a visiting Club then all of the pool money is used for prize money. On away matches the host Club runs the pool and their rules apply.

GOLDEN PEG

Golden Peg, only Points Competition matches will run the Golden Peg. Must be at least 5 anglers for Golden Peg competition to be valid.

PICK A PEG MATCH

A chance to fish your favourite peg! Draw for picking order, select your peg, (we will supply a list of fishable pegs) you must fish your nominated peg. Golden peg and points competition apply to this match.

  1. Presented by Dave Langley for the highest number of points scored in home matches over the season. 

  2. Presented by Dr. Kenneth Simon for the runner-up in home points matches.

  3. Twyford Thames Championship Trophy for the highest weight in a match on the River Thames. 

  4. Ted Seymour Trophy for the highest weight in the Beginning of Season Match. 

  5. Christopher Cutts St. Patrick's Stream Challenge Trophy for the highest weight in a match on St. Patrick's Stream. 

  6. Pole Cup presented by C Rumney for the highest weight in a pole only match. 

SPECIMEN TROPHIES

  1. Presented by Lt. Col. M P Verey for the best fish of the season based on the BRFC Record List. 

  2. Ron Mansfield Memorial Trophy for the best specimen fish caught at Sandford Mill. 

  3. Presented by R.S.Walker for the best specimen Barbel caught on Club waters. 

  4. Harper Dace Cup for the best specimen Dace caught on Club waters. 

  5. Presented by the Landlord of Club Headquarters for the best specimen Roach of 1 lb. or more caught on Club waters. 

  6. Merton Challenge Cup presented for the best specimen Pike caught on Club waters. 

  7. Perch Cup presented for the best specimen Perch caught on Club waters. 

  8. Bream Cup presented for the best specimen Bream caught on Club waters. 

  9. Chub Cup presented for the best specimen Chub caught on Club waters. 

  10. Carp Cup presented for the best specimen Carp caught on Club waters. 

ARCHIVED TROPHIES

  1. Presented by Bill Gardner for the highest weight caught in any one home match.

  2. Edgley Double Rivers Cup for the highest points in the Edgley Double Rivers challenge with one match on the Thames and one on St Patrick’s Stream.

  3. Joe Goodwin Memorial Cup for top weight in the Joe Goodwin Memorial match on St Patrick’s Stream.

  4. M.Tindal Shield for the highest weight in the End of Season Match.

  5. George Miles Trophy for the highest weight in a match on the River Loddon.

  6. Pairs Cup presented by R.Tillotson for a pairs match.

  7. Summer Series Trophy for the highest points score in the evening series of matches.

  8. Loddon Championship Trophy presented by R.Tillotson for the highest weight in a match on the River Loddon.

  9. Winter Series Cup presented by R.Tillotson for the highest number of points scored in the series.

  10. Peter Lewis Trophy for the highest total of points scored in away matches.

  11. R Beresford Trophy for the highest weight in a designated match on the River Loddon.
