A Bit About Us

Twyford & District Fishing Club can trace its roots back to 1932 when it was formed by a group of enthusiasts from Twyford village. Back then its waters comprised St. Patrick’s Stream, the Thames and parts of the Loddon. Today those waters are still part of the club’s portfolio but have been added to with a number of stillwater and river venues. The number of members has grown too; records show 100 anglers paid three shillings for their ticket in the 1933/34 season.

 

Today the number is a little short of 700 members, whose interests reflect the varied fishing offered by the club’s waters. Many of them have been members for 40 years or more. Barbel fisherman are drawn by the sport offered by the St. Patrick’s Stream, Loddon and Thames; carp anglers too like the Thames, as well as specimen sized fish in Whistley Mill Lake (aka Causeway Lake). Tench and crucian carp are also to be found in those stillwater venues.

 

Excellent chub fishing can be found on all the club’s river venues, as can silver fish and bream. And for the predator angler, Whistley Mill Lake is a real draw, though specimens are also to be found in the Thames, St. Patrick’s Stream and Loddon as well.

 

Twyford & District Fishing Club is run by members for it members. A small but enthusiastic and busy committee is well supported by the membership with the result that the banks and swims are well maintained with an emphasis on providing excellent fishing in beautiful surroundings. There is ample gated car parking on all venues as well.
