Let us introduce you to Simon Hibbert, your Chairman. Simon has many years of experience, having served as a committee member for over 25 years with British Airways Clubs Angling Society (BACAS). He’s already been instrumental in securing the club a stretch of The river Kennet.
A bit about Simon: 'I grew up in Windsor fishing the river Thames and many of its interesting back waters. My first fish was a gudgeon followed by a ruffe/pope. I joined Old Windsor AC and was soon match fishing and taking on the more experienced match anglers.'
'I left school and joined British Airways, immediately joining its angling section which led to some fantastic venues. Five years later I joined the BACAS committee as the match secretary
which opened doors to an abundance of competitions all over Europe fishing against other airlines on large challenging rivers.'
'Match fishing has always been close to my heart for more than 35 years but I have also enjoyed spending quality time in Canada fishing on the Trent-Severn Waterway catching big river carp. When my son was born, the match gear was put to one side and late evening barbel fishing on St. Pats became my next venture, I have caught plenty of big carp on the pole during a match but for me nothing beats a large barbel on a fast flowing river. To date my St. Pats personal best is 15lbs 8oz.'
